Important Note on Penpals/Adoptions
We are currently receiving over 100 requests per day for penpals and adoptions. Because all information must be verified the current processing time is approximately 7 days. Here is updated info on our status.
As of 9 AM on Nov 27th we have 341 penpal applications pending. We will get all of these processed today or tonight so that you will have your penpals for Thanksgiving. This is if you have all your information listed as requested. Any applications received later today will be processed after the holiday. You will still have time to write to them and send a package if you want to before the Christmas holiday! The post office (which is the only way you can send to APO & FPO) has listed the cut off for priority mail as Dec 11th but we do suggest for packages you get them sent by Dec 4th just to make sure. They have more than doubled the amount of mail flights going to our troops and they will continue through early January.
We are doing our best to get all of the stockings out as fast as we can and as long as the postage money holds out. We have shipped over 1,100 stockings from our location here in Pa and those that volunteered to help have shipped 2,600 stockings!! We have another 1,300 to 1,400 to ship yet. Over half of them are already stuffed but we still need about 250 more stockings to complete our mission. We also still need some help with postage. The boxes of 25 stockings cost between $36.00 and $50.00 to mail.
If you added up the numbers in the last paragraph you will already have realized that we have exceeded our goal of 5,000 stockings! We appreciate the show of support for our troops during the upcoming holiday season. We hope that you will bear with us while we make sure they all get mailed in time.
Please do not let this discourage you from applying for a penpal. We just wanted to let everyone know that we are working as fast as we can to get you set up.
Thanks to the employees at Fleetwood Post Office who heard about the need for stockings and took up a collection. They donated almost 50 stockings to help us! Thank you very much!
To all our readers: Thanks for supporting our troops!
